My first job site. Grandpa built the house; I supervised from his lap.

You love your home. Even the creaky bits. But finding someone who shows up, communicates and cares about the details shouldn’t become another project on your list. That’s why I built The Oak Park Handy Human, Inc.: to help our Oak Park, River Forest and near west suburban neighbors take care of the homes they love, from the small repairs to the bigger renovations.

That’s where The Oak Park Handy Human comes in.

I’m Sarah, owner and operator, old-home enthusiast and staunch believer in the beauty of natural wood. My grandfather built the house I grew up in, and I spent my summers refinishing his antique furniture. So yes, this love of houses goes way back. Before moving to Oak Park, I owned a property management and maintenance company for condo associations and worked as a general contractor in Chicago, overseeing their capital improvement projects.

My goal is simple: build a long-term relationship with you and get to know your home. Think of us like your favorite mechanic, the one who knows your car like the back of their hand. A bathroom facelift, custom storage or that repair you’ve been putting off? We’re here to help. And when a project needs a different specialist, we’re happy to connect you with our network of local pros.
